Randomness
Here at Trajectories, I don’t even try to share all the details of our lives here in Budapest. First, it’s impossible, and secondly, I’m much more inclined to share specific stories with you all. Some days just aren’t worth writing about, regardless of the fact that we are living in a strange new European city. I get up, eat breakfast, go to work, come home, eat dinner, and go to bed. Not exactly intriguing…
However, there are a few things that I want to share with you that don’t really have stories to go along with them, but may give you a few more details of our lives here.

Our friend and apartment-mate Maria left us this week. She moved back to Paris and we will miss her laugh and positive attitude.

December 6th is St. Nicholas Day here in Hungary. Instead of coming on Christmas Eve, Santa Claus comes here on this day. Hungarian children put their shoes out on December 5, and in the morning, if they were good, they get shoes filled with candy and peanuts. If they were bad, they get a switch with which their parents can beat them. Ouch. We had a delivery from Santa this year too. He must know us better than we thought, because we got both candy and a switch just in case.

Our favorite bar to hang out in is called Jelen. It's a jazz bar and we recently had Maria's going away party there. It's smoky and jazzy.

We've met some pretty cool people here. One of them can make just about anything out of a sheet of paper. Here we have Darth Vader.
So, there you go: Like anywhere in the world, life revolves around friends, food, and holidays.
